Walter

At this point in life, beginning treatment for terminal cancer, the mind wanders about this and that. Of course my mind has always wondered. But, you get to thinking about who will miss you the most and even if some people will miss you at all.

Obviously, my family and I have had several conversations about matters that have to be in order.  I know the family will miss me. If for no other reason, my constant grumpy old man attitude. Thinking outside the circle - kind of - who will miss the most I thought. Walter.

Walter sees me at least once a week and always rushes to greet me. He is always glad to see me, no matter what kind of mood I’m in. Every Sunday afternoon, he waits at the front window of his home and watches for me to show up about 2:30 p.m. Occasionally he stays with me, and the routine is the same. Everyday, he waits for 2:30 to come around. Why you ask? He wants what I bring him.  Treats - left over meat scraps.

Walter is one of my daughters dogs.

Charlie, the other dog, is glad to see me too, but he can’t tell time.
