If you haven’t heard, the requirement for voter ID in Texas in the courts. Those opposed to the idea of having someone prove who they are when they vote, say the requirement is racial and will hurt poor people and the elderly. Proponents say the requirement will reduce voter fraud.
The opponents like to dismiss voter fraud because it may be those people are voting for them. In fact they have protested so much, I think William Shakespeare would have said, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" as Queen Gertrude said in Hamlet.
In other words, if voter fraud wasn’t a big issue, there would not be such a protest. Reality is that any person over the age of one has to have a photo ID to navigate daily life.
As for me, I like the ID requirement because it will reduce fraud and keep ineligible people for voting multiple times.
Keeps me from voting several times - both for and against.
