I had a story to tell today, but my financial controller assured me that if I told the story, it would not be good for my being. One of my many faults is that I believe that truth is stranger than fiction and most of the time, a lot more amusing. She doesn’t.
My financial controller is one of those people that tries to help everybody all the time. God put them here to make the rest of us look bad. She is forever more running errands, shopping, taking people to doctor appointments, and even doing laundry for certain folks. Helping on laundry is the story I’m not supposed to tell. But, I can ask a question, since I am always asking questions.
Explain to me why someone would put a dirty cereal bowl into a laundry hamper? Maybe it was an experiment to see if one could wash clothes and dishes at the same time. Personally, I like that idea.
Boy, it’s hard not to tell a story.

Sex Sells And Buys
Here’s a couple or three events that demonstrate that sex sells and buys. First there is a porn conference scheduled for Dallas in August, against the wishes of the mayor and others. Then, this past weekend, the gay flag replaced the American flag over city hall in Reno, Nevada. The mayor there said, both flags were supposed to fly at the same time. And, Obama is running around the world promoting homosexuality.
Sex has always been used to sell. That’s why even in this day of feminist, commercials on TV feature scantly clad women and all the celebrities dress even more scantly - near nude. Now, politicians and some corporations think that homosexual sex buys votes or sells products.

An Agenda
Obama met with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta recently to discuss matters of significant importance to the two countries. Economy, democracy, and defense against terrorism are examples of common interest. But, Obama wanted to focus on gay rights. He said, “When you start treating people differently not because of any harm they are doing to anybody, but because they are different, that’s the path whereby freedoms begin to erode.”
He didn’t mention the millions that have died in Africa because of AIDS or the millions that are currently infected, I suppose because that’s not doing any harm. ???

Programs! Get Your Program!
Programs! Programs! Get your program. You can’t tell one candidate from another without a program. Of course, I’m referring to the Republicans.
As near as I can tell, the only thing that Republicans are good at is fighting each other. Perhaps they all unaware there are opponents on the other side. But, they all do agree to hate Trump, so at least they have something in common.
Back in the day, at large public gatherings, there were hot dog and beer vendors that would walk about and shout out their wares. Among them were hawkers of programs about the event. Therefore it seems to me at the RNC, there is money to be made by selling programs, so attendees will have some idea about who is who.

Donald Trump is causing quite a stir on the political scene. He says what he thinks and doesn’t back down. Come on Donald, don’t you know you are not supposed to be that way?

Do As I Say
My financial controller and life gunnery sergeant, stays on my case about working outdoors in all this heat. She insists that we hire someone to do the lawn work, but I am stingy and truly believe that I should do all the things I used to do - if I can. My routine is to do the mowing about 5:00 p.m. because that is what I used to do when I had a job. She says I should mow early in the morning. So, I checked with my friend Parrish, who is also retired, and he mows during the same time of the day as I do. And, his wife complains about him too.
Well, guess what? She has decided that she will work on the flower beds. My plan of using a vegetation killer just didn’t work for her.
This is where the plot thickens. She decided to tackle one of the flower beds right in the middle of the hot sun, while I was watering in the back yard, in the shade. She called me on my cell to tell me to bring her some water. I found her sitting under a small tree and obviously over heated. I got her back inside to cool off.
I waited about five minutes and told her to get back outside and do the job. That didn’t happen.

Maybe Or Maybe Not
Is Obama a Muslim? That is often discussed and apparently millions agree that he is. He does do things that would lead one to think that he is. Such as stating that America is no longer a Christian nation, ignoring traditions usually associated with Judeo Christian beliefs and often out right gestures that favor Muslim beliefs. However, there is a fact that seems to have gone unnoticed. Obama is a big supporter of homosexuality. He not only has shoved that agenda down the throats of Americans, he is reportedly working on getting some African laws changed that ban sodomy.

Hot Dog Day
This week we have National Hot Dog Day. Now, we’re getting somewhere on recognizing days of importance. I like hot dogs. Actually, I like chili cheese hot dogs with mustard and onions, but will eat just a plain old hot dog.
In honor of this notable day, the fast food chain outlet near me sold hot dogs for a buck each. That’s $1.07 with tax. Naturally, I was there and loaded up. My pickup now smells like hot dogs.
Somebody needs to invent an ice cream that tastes like hot dogs.

Then And Now
The problem with the supreme court is that they want to make judgements based upon current mores. Reality is that the Constitution was written by those that had the intent of establishing a document of law that would maintain a republic for centuries to come.
For SCOTUS, or any court, to rule, it is necessary to examine history and the values of those writers that laid the foundation of the country. For the most part, our laws are based upon the Ten Commandments. And, therefore a direct conflict has developed between the original and what society seeks today.
Obviously, there are questions that will arise, but when that happens, the legislative body has the power to make new laws, provided those laws do not interfere with the original design.
Our founding fathers based the Constitution on tried and proved lasting values that guided them and would forever protect and preserve the newly established nation.
The SCOTUS needs to go all the way back to what the original intent was meant to be and make decisions based upon those values.
Everyone that believes that will happen, raise your hand.

Listen up all anti-abortionist. Here’s a fool proof plan to have abortion made illegal in this country. All you have to do is get the LGBT on your side. Since they contend that they are born homosexuals, and they can’t reproduce, it just makes sense that they should oppose abortion. How many of the 50 to 60 million babies that have been aborted were homosexual? Abortion is killing their population.

No Social Security
Fox News and the LA Times reports that Obama wants people collecting Social Security benefits from owning guns if it is determined they are unable to manage their own affairs. Bottom line is that about four million recipient accounts managed by “representative payees” would not be allowed to own a gun.
The move is intended to put Social Security in line with laws that forbid gun sales to felons, drug addicts, illegal immigrants and others. But, it would also cover those that have a bad memory or those unable to balance a check book. Oops, I am in trouble there. But, I couldn’t balance a check book long before I got social Security.
A few questions arise about this, another stupid attempt to control citizens. First, let me agree that those with serious mental issues should not be allowed guns. But, how about those disabled physically? And, who is going to decide who is not allowed a gun? Can the restriction be managed? Is there a history of people on Social Security using firearms? Will someone go around and collect the weapons? What happens if someone has a gun, but tells SSA they don’t. You get the idea that the list goes on and on.
If there is a group that may need self defense, it would be the folks on Social Security. So, why is the administration afraid of them?
Let me see if I understand. Government, kills the unborn, disarms the old, taxes the middle class into poverty, controls health care, and makes use of the useful idiots called the media. What’s missing? Ah, keep the people divided.
That’s well on the way.

Someone said to never believe what you hear and only half of what you see. There is discussion as to actually said it, but I have to believe they were talking about the media in America. Everyday, there are so many “news” stories that are construed to present the view of a reporter or some other reason. Facts are left out, quotes are taken out of context, and if all else fails, a report may be made up entirely.

"It" Happens
Most of us have seen some version of a cartoon with a pigeon sitting on the head of a statue with a caption like, “Go ahead, everybody else does.” You get the picture. Well, guess what, “it” happens in the real world.
After discovering my lawn sprinkler system suddenly doesn’t work, my lawn mower has a problem with the deck, and my financial controller wanting to help by running the week eater, caused me to think that the world was out to get me. SPLAT!
I was under a shade tree trying to repair the weed eater, when some winged creature decided to let go from the tree. No, it didn’t hit me on the head, but barely missed my ear and spattered on my shoulder.
I had planned to stay inside where it is cool and watch TV today, but said financial controller wanted to work outside in the sun where it is not cool.
It had to be the bird that eats all my tomatoes.

Billboard
We had to make a road trip to Dallas and along the way, a billboard caught my eye. Although I can’t quote it verbatim, it simply said that America needs to repent and return to God. I do not recall seeing any organization or affiliation on the sign.
It was surprising that some groups weren’t there protesting and demanding it be taken down. Surely, we can’t have such a message posted along side a major interstate highway. I guess that the owners of the billboard don’t have a clue about offensive that sign may be to someone. We can’t offend anyone anymore. Can we?
Can you imagine what would happen if people started taking the message on the sign to heart? Why, we could revert back to beliefs and principles that made this the greatest country in the history of mankind. That sign says what the prophets have always said. It just makes sense.
But, apparently America doesn’t want anything that makes sense.

There are millions of Americans that are opposed to what’s going on in this country today. The internet is full of blogs, social media comments, pseudo news sites, and organizations that cry out about the current situation that is destroying America. The problem is they all are independent.
Most of them have some little differences in what they see as the solution to the decay of a moral society. But, they all agree on significant needs to get America back on the path to being a world leader, straight and strong.

99 & 99
I tire of non-residents comments about how pretty the scenery is in East Texas. Yes, we have tall pine trees and lost of other green plants. I pretty sure I’ve seen some green animals too. But, all one has to do is be here in the summer and you lose your interest in the beauty of your surroundings.
When the temperature reaches 99 degrees and the relative humidity is 99 percent, this place just loses it’s luster for me. That’s probably why we left East Texas when I was five years old. Heat and humidity is tough on an old man.
But then, there’s my mother-in-law who is 87 and wears a sweater in the summer.
I should have waited until I was 105 before moving back.

Coloring
According to a TV news story and an article I read this week, coloring is the new adult stress reliever. That’s right, get out the crayons and Big Chief tablets. I doubt my readers remember Big Chief tablets. It seems that one can purchase artistic designs and pencils to color. This is supposed to relieve stress. And, when you finish, your work may be suitable for framing or maybe good enough for hanging on the refrigerator.
I won’t be taking up coloring although I do need stress relief. I have every confidence that my coloring skills would still be like they were in the first grade of school.

Dig'em Up
I read this week a report credited to WREG in Memphis that taking down a Confederate flag is not enough. The city council now is out to take down a statue of General Nathan Bedford Forrest, from the Health Sciences Park on Union Avenue. And, since the general is buried there, they want his remains moved too. Plus, his wife buried next to him.
What’s next? Will there be a movement to go to all cemeteries and dig up confederate remains?

I’ve never been one to have interest in a “conspiracy theory.” But, in light of all the events happening in our country these days, I can only surmise that it is entirely possible there is a movement to destroy the USA as we know it. When you have the president pointing to everything as racist, homophobic or whatever, there is need for concern. And, the media probably hasn’t reported a truth in so long, they couldn’t do it now.
There is strong indication that the idea is to have a race war, civil war or if neither of those happen, then get someone to attack from within.
Americans are afraid to speak what they think. And, they don’t dare take any actions against a extremely small number that would have us all believe a lie.
It sure seems that whomever, one or many, is succeeding. I would like to know who expects to make money or become sole ruler with anarchy.

Solar Powered
It’s hard to believe, but my wrist watch died after only 20 years. They just don’t make them like they used to. So, it was necessary to buy a new one. When I don’t have my watch, I feel like I am lost.
At the store, there was a small selection of the brand I wanted. None of them matched my specifications. Therefore I had to venture out and try something new. I hate trying something new. But, I did get a new watch and it’s solar powered. Never have to change the battery I am told. The clerk cautioned me not to put the watch away in a drawer or box and leave it for a long period of time or it would run down. To be on the safe side, I now keep my watch around light. At least once per day, I stick my arm outside the door into the sunlight.
Now I have a tan on one arm.

What If
Most of the time I don’t watch commercials on TV. I record the programs I want to see and fast forward through the commercials. But, there is one commercial that I see often while watching news programs. It begins by asking a question, “What if eating one stalk of broccoli would prevent cancer.” Then next question, “What if doing one pushup would prevent a heart attack.”
Well, my response to the commercial would be, “I’m just going to die.” Nobody should have to eat broccoli.
I haven’t done pushups since I got out of the Army.

Then And Now
Reflecting upon the times of the American Revolution, I notice a major difference in people. John Adams, John Hancock and all the rest of the boys knew full well what their fate might be. These were a bunch of rag tag hooligans in the eyes of the most powerful nation in the world at that time. But, they were bound together by the knowledge of right, and from whom they would draw the strength to do what few believed could be done.
How many people today would be willing to pledge to each other, their lives and fortunes to change the government that imposes outrageous taxes, denies freedom of speech and rights just to live in peace their lives the way they want. There are many that say they would pay the price to make America great again. But, nothing happens.
There was only about 10% of the colonist that wanted to risk breaking away from the crown.
And they built a nation that all the world used to admire.

What does independence day really mean? Thomas Jefferson penned the words that changed the world. He carefully and skillfully measured each word and phrase so that even the uneducated could understand. Carefully read the following excerpts from the Declaration of Independence.
When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.-
We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
Now the exam. Where do the rights Jefferson refers to come from? Upon whom did these colonies place reliance in the declaration? If you remove the references to the British crown and Great Britain, what would you replace them with today?
According to this document, absolute despotism is to be thrown off because it is the right and duty of the citizens to do so. They signed the document with a mutual pledge to each other for their lives, fortunes and sacred honor.
A simple document and united commitment changed the world.

Ramblings
From the very start of this blog, I said it would be about whatever I thought about at the moment I write. That means that I ramble a lot. And today is one of those days.
First, I listened to some talk radio and they were talking about bubble wrap. One guy said that what’s wrong with the younger generation is they have never popped bubble wrap. I think he has a point. And, a question was posed, “What do you pack bubble wrap with to ship it?”
Next, I am a reader of signs. Some of them just cause me to ask a question. There is a dentist office near me and every time I go by there I see their sign, “New Patients Welcome.”
Does that mean that old patients are not?

Why Not?
I, myself, and apparently a lot of other people are asking, “If all states must issue a same sex marriage license, then why don’t all states have to issue a gun permit?” And, why don’t they all have to honor a gun license issued in another state?
Watch out for the hypocrisy when the supreme ones answer this.
