Fox News and the LA Times reports that Obama wants people collecting Social Security benefits from owning guns if it is determined they are unable to manage their own affairs. Bottom line is that about four million recipient accounts managed by “representative payees” would not be allowed to own a gun.
The move is intended to put Social Security in line with laws that forbid gun sales to felons, drug addicts, illegal immigrants and others. But, it would also cover those that have a bad memory or those unable to balance a check book. Oops, I am in trouble there. But, I couldn’t balance a check book long before I got social Security.
A few questions arise about this, another stupid attempt to control citizens. First, let me agree that those with serious mental issues should not be allowed guns. But, how about those disabled physically? And, who is going to decide who is not allowed a gun? Can the restriction be managed? Is there a history of people on Social Security using firearms? Will someone go around and collect the weapons? What happens if someone has a gun, but tells SSA they don’t. You get the idea that the list goes on and on.
If there is a group that may need self defense, it would be the folks on Social Security. So, why is the administration afraid of them?
Let me see if I understand. Government, kills the unborn, disarms the old, taxes the middle class into poverty, controls health care, and makes use of the useful idiots called the media. What’s missing? Ah, keep the people divided.
