By the time you reach grumpy old man age you should have figured out that governments on all levels have no idea of how to operate within their income. You should have also figured out that citizens don’t care that governments don’t know - until it interrupts personal lives.
Right now the good ole USA has financial problems on all levels - federal, state, county, city and even home owner associations. Yes, HOA’s are mini governments.
The problem seems to be that everyone is living on borrowed money. In the past, the solution has been simply to raise taxes. Now, there simply aren’t enough taxes to be had to pay the interest on all the loans and operate at the same time.
People are alarmed because they think that government is supposed to support them, if not completely, at least partially. The reality is - "there ain’t no more money."
What happens when a family loses income? They lose their house, their car, and all the other things that go along with income. When a lender forecloses because a debtor is broke, there is no alternative. We are indebted to governments around the world that are getting closer to foreclosing.
Who can we blame? Inept government? Crooked politicians? Republicans? Democrats? You and I both know that we, individually and collectively are to blame because we let governments become what they are. You don’t want to hear that. Neither do I. But, it is true.
