So Anthony Weiner, representative from Brooklyn and Queens lied. Big deal. Apparently most of his constituents say they don’t think he should resign and they would vote for him again.
Let’s not go into what would have happened if he was a Republican. He is a politician. From what I have observed so far in life, when it comes to politicians, a crime or a sin is anything you do and get caught.
My question is what does this behavior say about the country? It’s not a trick question. The answer is simple and obvious. So long as we get our wants and needs met, it doesn’t matter how it is done. The character of the persons representing us is only important if they get caught.
It just may be that representatives are nothing more than a reflection of those they represent. There can be no shame if there is nothing to be ashamed of.
