My daughter doesn’t understand why I don’t take a vacation - really go somewhere - every year like she and her family do. The answer is simple. I don’t have anywhere I want to go; I hate to travel; and no matter where you go, sooner or later, you have to come home and do laundry.
It is interesting how kids want to boss around parents. I do not remember doing that to my parents. I just assumed that they were big enough to do what they wanted to. But, that’s not what it’s all about today. Kids don’t understand why parents don’t want to use Facebook, send tweets or carry a phone that has a million applications. Again, the answer is simple. I don’t want to.
You’re never going to convince me that knowing when "friends" are going to potty is something fun. Or, watch them sort their underwear drawer.
The one and only thing I want to do, is not do what I don’t want to do. It’s fun. It drives kids crazy.
