The official grumpy old man rules of life #74 is, “honor matters.” Honor is a “man thing.” I’m not saying that women can’t have honor or give honor, but the male of the species, understands more about honor. It is that something felt, that gives one a sense of right. A sense of doing the right thing, no matter the cost.
Honor goes beyond emotion, it extends to the very being of humanity. It is the reason that one salutes an enemy that has fought valiantly. The reason that one stands at a cemetery lot, without a show of emotion, but with a feeling that words fail.
Honor is one of the most misused words, because it only applies when something is truly honorable. That is to say, no title is deserving of the word, honor. And, so many less acts are often deemed honorable. Honor matters. If you don’t understand true honor, I guess it doesn’t matter.
To those that understand, it's as important as life.
