We found out this week that Yogi Berra has died at the age of 90. Lawrence “Yogi” Berra was a three time MVP catcher and important part of 10 world champion Yankees teams in the 40s, 50s and 60s. Hey, I had a bubble gum Yogi Berra baseball card.
Berra who died of natural causes, was an 18 time All Star, a member of a record 14 AL pennant winners and a 1972 inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame, the same year his uniform number 8 was retired by the Yankees.
The younger generation may not know Yogi like I did as a kid. If you wanted to be a catcher, you wanted to be like Yogi. But, almost everyone knows Yogi for the things he said. Like, “You can observe a lot by just watching.”
Remember on your new journey, “If you come to a fork in the road, take it.”
RIP Yogi.
