In all my years of being on this earth, I have taken great pride in being an American. Unlike Michelle Obama, who said when she got to be a White House resident and spend tax money like crazy, it was the first time she was proud of America, I find myself now ashamed of America.
First, I don’t know what kind of American I am. There are so many hyphenated American and I don’t consider myself to be any of them. Second, I find myself still thinking for myself, and that is rare. Government tells you what to think and do, and don’t do. The world is in serious turmoil and not only do people not care, America is focused on letting the boys into the girls restrooms and locker rooms. Is there no one else that is embarrassed by that?
A country that was once strong and respected by the rest of the world is now laughed at. No one is afraid of us, especially a handful of radical terrorist that could be stopped in a couple of days. We once stood for right and wrong, but now we only stand for political correctness, no matter how wrong it may be. We were a land of religious freedom. Today, Christian values, that built this country, are attacked daily and the attackers are hailed as heroes.
Our schools teach social engineering, instead of the basics of what it takes to contribute to society to maintain and build upon the greatest economy in history.
We have elected leaders that I would not want to be alone in a room with. And, they are hailed as wonderful by the populous. At least those that want government to provide them with everything that working people struggle for.
The list could go on and on, but it is sickening to think about. Yes, there are some that still believe that somehow, like magic, everything will be like it was designed to be. But, it will take more than magic. It would take a miracle.
No, I won’t give up on America.
But, I’m still ashamed of what it has become.
