To be eligible to vote by mail in Texas, you must: be 65 years or older; be disabled; be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; or, be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible. All you have to vote from jail is submit a form that you won’t be available on the election date.
I’m guessing that "otherwise eligible" means you agree to vote for a Democrat.
Wait a minute! That would not be a misdemeanor, but a felony.
Felons are not allowed to vote until they get out of jail.
