Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo isn’t a Mexican holiday. It was created by Latinos in California during the Civil War, and celebrates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. So, don’t take a trip down south looking for a big celebration. And, don’t wear an American flag on your tee shirt. It may offend some in California - especially at schools.

Don’t try your high school Spanish to native speakers, either. They will only laugh or look at you in disgust. The only thing I can say is, "Taco Bueno."

I don’t know how to say Dairy Queen in Spanish.
