Tough Guy

Except for about 15 minutes of news, I watch very little television. And, I don’t walk around with a ‘smart phone’ stuck in my face or ear. This gives me an edge on the rest of society.

We have a channel that plays a lot of the old, really old, TV shows.  We usually watch Gunsmoke, an old western series during lunch. I don’t have to watch any given episode all the way through because I’ve seen them all before. My standing joke is to yell at my financial controller and tell her the show is on and she better hurry because marshal Dillon has been shot 50 times. He was always getting shot. Well in an episode this week, Doc Adams commented that Dillon had been shot 11 times in the 15 years he had been the marshal in town. Do the math on that. This is one tough dude. That’s almost once per year. And, this doesn’t count the other times that he was shot and old Doc didn’t treat him. Men were tough back in the old west.

I think I would have looked for another job after the first four or five times.
