All Alone

The obituary read, ‘he died surrounded by family and friends.’  Guess what?  He died alone.  There are some things that one faces all alone in life.  Death is the final one.  As the old song says, “you gotta walk that lonesome valley, you gotta walk it by yourself.  Nobody else can walk it for you, you gotta walk it by yourself.”

Truth is that people don’t like to talk about dying.  You can ruin a party by suggesting that everyone should talk about who’s going to die next.  People know they are going to die, but few ever give a thought to it.

I wonder if the people in Washington ever think about that.

They sure don’t act like they do.
