I have long been of the opinion that older folks should be allowed to do the jobs they think they can do until they find out they can’t. My financial controller and her mother used to keep my father-in-law from doing simple outdoor jobs because they thought he could no longer do them. I told them to let him try and he would decide if he should be doing something. I guess they won, because now he doesn’t do anything.
This week, I decided that I would hand wash my truck. The last time I did it was about six years ago and it took me about an hour. This time it took over two hours - with several breaks.
I don’t think it took longer because I am six years older.
I think the truck has gotten bigger.
