Charles was born August 27, 1865 in Marietta, Ohio. He became a lawyer, banker, politician and a military general. Charles was even a co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1925. He was a successful and important man.
Charles was a self taught pianist and a composer. His composition, “Melody in A Major” in 1912 became a well known piano and violin song played at many official functions. In 1951 Carl Sigman added lyrics to the music, and the song became number one on the American Billboard chart for six weeks in 1958.
Tommy Edwards was the artist that sang, “It’s All In The Game.” And, Edwards’ version of the song also became number on the United Kingdom Chart the same year. If you search on Youtube, you will find the song has millions of hits.
But, Charles wrote the song. Who the heck is Charles? Well, he was Charles G. Dawes. What? You never heard of Charles G. Dawes?
Charles was the 30th Vice President of the United States, under Calvin Coolidge.
