Saint Patrick’s Day is Saturday, March 17th. You are supposed to wear green and pinch anyone that does not. Pinching is to remind you that leprechauns can sneak upon you at anytime. But, be careful who you pinch and where you pinch them.
Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland because he was a Christian missionary given credit for converting Ireland to Christianity in the AD 400s. There are many legends tied to St. Patrick, but my favorite is that he drove all the snakes out of Ireland, after they attacked him during a 40 day fast he was taking on top of a hill, so he just banished all the snakes to the sea.
We need a Saint Patrick today. One that could banish all the snakes in Washington D.C. into the sea. That would be a cause for real celebration.
We could all set around eating corned beef and cabbage and watch them try to learn how to swim with their pockets full of our money.
