Monkey See - Monkey Do - Cat Too

Over the years there have been numerous trials on how to win in the stock market. You do need to understand that investing in the market is as much of a gamble as it is an investment. Or as I’ve said before, the difference between the stock market and a casino is, you don’t get free drinks in the stock market.

It has been shown time and again that "couch potatoes" can be as good and often better than professional financial advisors. And, of course there have been many "tests" with just throwing darts at stock tables.

In 2014 a "secret fund" came into being when a group of analysts with PhDs in Math, Astrophysics and Quantum Mechanics constructed the most sophisticated algorithm in world history for analyzing the market and predicting the price of securities. The fund more than tripled investments, outpacing all the major stock and bond indexes. Yes, the returns were genuine. However, it turned out that the secret fund was purely fictional. Reality is that it was, the "proverbial portfolio picked by a blindfolded monkey."

In 1999, a chimpanzee named Raven threw ten darts at a board with 133 internet-related companies. The portfolio out-performed more than 6000 money managers by earning a 213% return.

In 2013 a ginger tabby cat named Orlando, (who would toss his toy mouse on a grid of choices) showed a return of nearly 11%.

A good thing about having a monkey or a cat picking your investment is cheaper fees.

A few bananas and some catnip.
