Did you get an email from Microsoft about updating their services agreement? Did you even know you have a services agreement? Well, chances are you do if you use any Microsoft product or service. This is how the email began:
"You’re receiving this email because we are updating the Microsoft Services Agreement, which applies to one or more Microsoft products or services you use. We’re making these updates to clarify our terms and ensure that they remain transparent for you, as well as to cover new Microsoft products, services and features. The Microsoft Services Agreement is an agreement between you and Microsoft (or one of its affiliates) that governs your use of Microsoft consumer online products and services."
Now, what you are expected to do is to just ignore the notice and go about your business, but you may want to take some time to look and see what it is all about. I will admit that you may need to go to law school first, but at least take a look at the conditions and changes.
Anytime, a large corporation, with all their legal beagles, sends you a notice, it is about them, not you. Somewhere in the fine print you may be agreeing to give them your first born and all your worldly goods. Well, maybe not that bad, but be assured that they do not have your best interest in mind.
I am so old that I remember when Microsoft proclaimed that when you bought a software, that you would never have to buy another one. Now, they lease you software, with lots of conditions.
And, don’t forget this is the company that gave you Windows Vista and Windows 8. I was happy with Windows 3.1.
Not to worry.
Especially if you are having concerns about your first born.
