New Computer

I have discovered technology, it is changing. That means I am in the market for a new desktop computer. Don’t laugh, if things keep going the way they are now, a desktop and monitor will be smaller than a smart phone, and you don’t have to charge the battery every few minutes.

Back to my story. My old computer is about 5 to 6 years old and works fine, but I like to update every so often. The problem I have is that I don’t like Windows 10 and it may not allow me to run some of the software I have now. I’m old and old software suits me just fine. While I like my Office 2003, it does have trouble with some of the new versions, especially in Excel. I don’t use Word, so I don’t care about it. I discovered a long time ago that anything that you can do in Word Perfect with one click, you can do the same thing in Word with 100 clicks.

So far I have discovered that you get less bang for the buck on new hardware and a decent software package now has to be leased. Not good for grumpy old men.

I might mention for anyone that uses Windows 10, you may want to check your privacy features. Unless you want Microsoft to know a lot about your personal life, it is time to look into disabling a lot of what they call express set up.

Maybe I just need to get an old typewriter and some nice stationery.

I already have a calculator.
