Presidents Day

George Washington’s birthday, February 22nd, was recognized to honor him for his service to the country. In 1879 it was officially recognized as a holiday in Washington D.C. and expanded to all federal offices in 1885. The actual day was abandoned under the Uniform Monday Holiday Act and grew to include all presidents. Thus, you have no mail service on Monday, February 20, 2017. That’s enough history.

My little mind wonders what old George would have thought about the country today. Would he be as willing to suffer near starvation, unbearable cold, and overwhelming odds to create a nation like we have?

Somehow I think that he and all those that suffered and died, would be disappointed. They would look and see so many things that are far from what they envisioned and would be disgusted.

Don’t worry George. Rest in peace if you can. You are all but forgotten today anyway.

But should you be reincarnated, you can get a deal at a mattress sale.
