Phone Call Fun

If you have never gotten a phone call from someone saying they are a windows technician, then your phone must be broken. Their story is that they have detected a problem with your computer and then they want access so they can fix it. The easy way to handle these calls is to hang up, but now and then I just have to have a little fun.

In the past few days I’ve gotten several calls and hung up on most of them, but there were two that I decided to play with. On the first one, I told the caller that my daughter who takes care of my computer, works for the Attorney General’s office and she hadn’t gotten home from work yet. They disconnected the call. Next call. I told the caller that my son was a detective for the sheriff’s office and he handles my computer problems. When the caller had the gall to ask if he was a technician, I told her I don’t know, but he does work in the cyber-crime division. Another hang up.

It doesn’t take a lot to entertain me. I have plans for the next calls, like telling them my wife takes care of the computer and right now she is gone ‘potty’ and can’t come to the phone. Or, pretending to have a serious hearing problem and saying something like, "we don’t need any windows," we just had them replaced. You can also tell them that you don’t have a computer, but that’s no fun.

If you don’t want to play, just lay the phone down and don’t say anything.
