Size XXXL Please

According to CBS News, as Americans get heavier, the impact is spilling over into the funeral industry, with families needing to spend thousands more on extra-large caskets. Bet you haven’t thought about that.

It seems the larger size caskets can cost $2000 to $3000 more than the standard 26 inch wide model. Goliath Caskets, an appropriate name, reports that the demand for a more relaxed fit product has owner Keith Davis saying he can’t retire anytime soon.

And, then there is the problem that the bigger caskets won’t fit in hearses, requiring families to rent flat bed trucks to transport them to the cemetery. There was no mention about renting a crane to get them on and off the truck.

It’s just a guess, but I suppose that if cremation is used on the larger folks, it would require two urns.

Cha ching for the register at the funeral parlor.
