According to a story in the Detroit Free Press from the Associated Press, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has signed legislation that creates a drug testing program for adult welfare recipients who are suspected of using drugs. A one year pilot program in a limited number of counties is supposed to start next year.
Basically, the program will require recipients or applicants to take a drug test or suffer consequences of loss of benefits for a period of time or even permanently in some cases.
Naturally I think this is a great idea. There is just something wrong with paying people to be drug addicts. I know that the "nanny nazis" and some others disagree with me, but "So what!"
I think we need to take programs like this to a higher lever, like congress.
And, we need to implement a "stupid" test for them too.
