Santa Claus?

My financial controller was talking to a young woman that is of another belief and she asked, "What does Santa Claus have to do with Christmas?" The short answer is absolutely nothing. Santa is not and has never been the reason for celebrating Christmas. However he is good for business.

Christmas is to celebrate the birth of the Christ. And, it is probable that He was not born in December. Some where around April is the best guess, for there were shepherds abiding in the fields. Shepherds don’t abide in the fields in the winter time. They stay home and keep the sheep protected from the cold.

Why then do we celebrate Christmas in December? What else is there to do in December? In April, everybody is working on their income tax return.

And, nobody has any money left after taxes.

Not even Santa.
