The official grumpy old man rules, #64 states, “Know what you are willing to die for.”  That’s a tough one, that most people have never considered.  Sure, most people say they would die for their children, their spouse or even their pet, but would they?

One of the favorite things people like to brag about is that they would die to defend their home.  Please!  There is nothing in a house worth dying for.  One should get the family and get out to safety.  Forget the house.

Recently I watched a documentary about some of the Navy SEALS that fought in Iraq.  One of them said to do the job, you have to be willing to kill and you have to be willing to die.

There are few things worth dying for, but the ones that are, are worth it.
