How many of you are hypocrites, raise your hand? If you didn’t raise your hand, you lied and are still a hypocrite. All of us pretend to be something we are not at one time or another. Such is the story about a preacher that invited a man to church and the man replied, “I’m not coming to church, it’s full of hypocrites.” The preacher said, “Come anyway, one more want make any difference.”
Are churches really filled with hypocrites? You better believe it. From my experiences, the meanest people in the world are in churches, but then so are the nicest people in the world. Jesus said that some church leaders were vipers and hypocrites. That’s why He took His message to the gentiles.
The apostle Paul proclaimed himself as the chief of sinners, yet he took the Gospel to the world. Saint Peter was a fisherman and was prone to chop off ears with his sword. Was he a hypocrite? Yes, until he learned better.
