Have you heard someone say, "I know what you’re thinking?" Perhaps someone has told you that. Have you ever wondered, "How do you do that?" Think about it. It would be absolutely amazing to know what someone else is thinking. To be able to know what someone else is thinking is a skill I would like to have.
But, it isn’t possible. The problem is that people think differently and some don’t think at all. So, when someone says they know what you are thinking, they are only transferring their thoughts to the person they are speaking to or about. Politicians love to do this against opponents. And, is standard behavior for anyone that perceives they can gain power over you or if they feel threatened and about to lose an argument.
The next time someone says, "I know what you’re thinking," just respond with, "That’s amazing. Please teach me how to do that." And, be sure to ask if they can read the minds of people of different nationalities, languages and cultures.
Or, you can just do what a grumpy old man does. Sometimes I just don’t think.
That really throws them off.
