Ants

As kids, we used to have ant farms. That’s where you build a box with glass and put a bunch of ants inside and watch what they do. It is more exciting that watching daytime TV - or night time for that matter.

Since those "good old days" we have seen the invasion of the fire ants. One does not want an ant farm with fire ants. Those little devils would likely eat the box - glass too. Now I am informed by the AP - Associated Press - that a South American ant dubbed "hairy and crazy" is marching across the south.

Crazy ants don’t march in a straight line or build mounds where you can see them. They like to live in shelters already prepared such as houses, barns, storage sheds, industrial sites and etc. They eat anything animal or vegetable.

You are advised to be on the alert because they ride across country in bales of hay, shipping containers and the like. Pesticides don’t work for long. One researcher says he sprayed a half acre and in a short time he had two inches of dead ants piled up on the entire half acre.

You see, if you kill one, then hundreds more come. If you kill a thousand, millions come to replace them. Sounds like politicians to me.

Surely the ants aren’t that crazy???
