A Better Person

It has been said that if you want to be a better person, you should associate with better people. This is one of those rare truisms. You just can’t expect to improve yourself or you behavior if you run with the wrong crowd.

I would suppose that a large number of drug addicts, thieves, rapist, and murderers, might have avoided their fate if they had only aspired to move away from similar acquaintances and simply started hanging out with another circle of friends. Thankfully, in most of society the afore mentioned practices are not the norm.

It is true that if you want to be smart, associate with people smarter than you. If you want to be better at sports or any endeavor, always play with someone better. To make more money, learn from those that make more money - not from the junkie or welfare recipient.

It just makes sense. Keep yourself moving forward to better, wiser, richer and smarter friends. You don’t have to forget those that don’t move up with you. Nor, do you or should you think that you are better than them. When you do that, you move back to the starting point.

We've all been asked, "what would you be if you could be anything in the world?" Perhaps the answer is simple. If I could be anything in the world, "I’d wish to be a better person."

Maybe this is why no one hangs out with me.
