Earlier I complained about technical writers and my problem with replacing the drive belt on my riding lawn mower. I am happy to report that the job has been done without the technical manual. All it took was a lot of sweat, some imagination and two helpers that had never done this before either.
In case you should ever have to do this job I have a list of the tools you will need:
Three screwdrivers - a big one, a medium and an it-a-bitty
Pair of vice-grips
Several ratchet sockets of various sizes and a ratchet that works
Some open end and box wrenches - doesn’t matter size they are because they won’t work anyway
A piece of small rope about four feet long
Car ramps - to get the mower up off the ground
One five gallon bucket
Box of band-aids - may need two boxes
That’s it. There’s no technical jargon involved. You just take off the stuff that holds the belt and put on the new belt and put the stuff back.
And, there are people that think I couldn’t be a technical writer.
