Affect-Effect-Cost

Here’s my latest recommendation for government. Before any action is taken, it must be determined who will the action affect, what will be the effect and what will it cost. When these steps are applied to something current like illegal immigration the end result is not desirable.

Illegal immigration affects the immigrants. They get to break the law and participate in "free stuff" such as education, medical services, food, housing and legal representation, creating a mind set that if you break the law, you get rewarded.

The legal citizens are dramatically affected.

The effects are endless. First and foremost is the effect of millions of others to follow the illegals. Because millions have already shown the way, and now there are millions more.

Social services, already strained, have to be doubled, tripled or more to accommodate the never ending stream of people. Resources are depleted at a tremendous rate. Food, housing, medical services, and education are overwhelmed, and worsen as numbers rise.

When over population occurs, crime increases and citizens live in fear. Add the spread of diseases that are not common or once were eradicated and fear increases.

The list of effects can go on, but the end result has to be that the quality of life will be destroyed, even for the illegals.

The cost in tax payer dollars are soaring and will multiply beyond the ability for workers to bear. Simple economics.

If you invite a couple of friends over for dinner and 20 other people show up, how are you going to pay for them? You have a limited budget. Does everyone get a few bites instead of the meal you can pay for? Maybe some get nothing at all?

We are supposed to help the poor. It is the right thing to do. But, if helping them makes you unable to feed yourself and your family, and eventually your ability to help the poor, who wins?

When everyone has nothing, there’s not a lot to share.
