State Representative Tony Tinderholt of Arlington is reportedly under police protection for death threats against him and his family. Tinderholt introduced a bill in the Texas Legislature to ban abortions in the State. It would charge any woman and provider with murder for an abortion. Exceptions such as to save the life of a mother would not be affected.
Reports are that the Arlington Police, Tarrant County Sheriffs Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety are involved in protecting Mr. Tinderholt and his family. The DPS will not confirm or deny their involvement, according to broadcast and print media.
It will be interesting to see if the police catch the criminals and what happens if they do. After all, the majority of the pro-choice groups are all for women rights and love.
It is good that the threats are not being ignored. These people have no problem killing babies, so they sure won’t hesitate killing a family.
Must be included in their right to choose.

Government Day Care
President Trump needs to issue an executive order to open a day care center for all the toddlers that are over 18. That way, someone can feed them breakfast, let them protest something, feed them lunch, make them take a nap, give them a snack and send them home for the night. We may need special centers for celebrities and the media people.
Facts are, Obama banned immigrants from Iraq for six months and no one cared. Slick Willie said something needed to be done to stop immigration, and nobody said anything.
In my own crude way of putting things sometimes, I suggest that the day care centers could also check the little darlings for ring around the collar everyday.

Citizen Rights
According to interpretations of the Constitution over the years since it was written, any person that comes into the United States, legally or illegally has the same rights as a citizen. The exceptions are if you are a citizen, you can vote and run for political office.
Of course, you have the right to work and pay taxes while most of the non-citizens work off the books for cash and send their money back to where they came from. Citizens also have the right to pay more taxes to support non-citizens, so they can send their money home.

Medical Services
For the past four years I have complained about living in East Texas. There have been numerous issues with services and products, but I haven’t mentioned medical services, until now. This area has to be the medical services capital of the world. There is a clinic, office or hospital on just about every corner. And, the ones I’ve had to use seem to hold up the tradition of bad service and high prices.
Not too long ago I had to go to a dermatologist for an excessive oily skin problem. The young lady doctor looked at the problem and said there was nothing she could do, but would give me some sample medicines to see if they would help. When I got home, I researched the medicines and found that one of them did treat, without much result, the problem I had. The second medicine was for anal itch. Quit laughing and go on to the next paragraph.
I have a standing prescription for a migraine medicine. Depending upon the frequency of the headaches, I usually use a prescription about once every 3 to 6 months. This past week, because I was low on the pills, I phoned in the refill to our local pharmacy. A recording told me that the refill would be ready later the next day. When I went to the drug store to get my prescription, I was told that I had already picked it up. I immediately suspected that was not true because I would have had to go there and I had not been there. After much discussion and reviewing a video of the person that actually got my medicine, we all agreed that it was not me. It was a very nice looking woman, who didn’t look like she had a headache.
After some time, it was concluded by the pharmacy that my prescription had been given to someone else and they would investigate further. There are several rules, regulations and laws against doing such things. However, they could not fill the order for me. Seems they were now out of stock on the medicine.
My financial controller and ace number one daughter wonder why I won’t go to doctors or take medicines.
I figure I’m ahead just staying home and dying if necessary.

Don't Humiliate
Well, it hasn’t been a week yet and the new Prez has already upset me. I don’t understand why Presidents don’t check with me first before they do things. I know Mr. Trump promised that he would build a wall on the southern border and Mexico would pay for it, but he just may be going at it the wrong way.
His approach is to humiliate the Mexican President, and that doesn’t usually sit well with folks. My approach might be a little more palatable. All Mr. Trump has to do is get Mexico to agree to recall all it’s illegal people back. Give them a time line, 60 days, to return. If they do not, then the U.S. will arrest and deport them back. Those folks would go to a Mexican prison. Not nice places. And, for those that aren’t rounded up, launch a movement to prevent them from working anywhere in the U.S. or receiving any aid.
Mexico would be removing the multi-billion burden on our economy and therefore paying for the wall. And, they would have their people back to work without any tariffs placed on trade.

The Truth
We are told a lot of untruths everyday - mostly by the media and politicians. Today, there is even an alternative truth, whatever that is. Reality is, that the truth is the truth regardless of what you think it is or what you want it to be.
Take a look at a simple truth. When you stand outside in the rain, you get wet. That’s the truth. Most of us can accept that. But, beyond this and other simple truths, there seems to be a lot of disagreement. Eyewitnesses testify under oath what they saw, but is it always the truth? No, it is their observation and interpretation. What then, is the truth?
The truth is the truth when all the evidence leads to the same conclusion by a majority of unbiased people. But, can the truth be the truth when nobody believes it to be and evidence won’t support it? Yes, it can.
Billions of people believe that God is God and created the heavens and the earth, and He alone decides your fate for all eternity, based upon what you did with His son, Jesus. Billions do not believe this. What, then, is the truth?
The evidence clearly states that Jesus is the Son of God, whether you believe it or not. And, He is not the truth just because billions believe He is. He is the truth, even if no one believes.
Are you confused yet? The point is that if you seek the real truth and put aside your confused thoughts and beliefs, you will find it.

More Whys
In yesterday’s post, I gave a brief description of why I am a conservative, whatever that means. The bottom line is that conservatism is the only way a nation can survive. And, here are a few reasons I follow that choice.
Conservatism is the only way that the people can control the government, not the other way around. When left alone, government will always become socialist, then communist, and finally dictators.
By being conservative, the people will have enough resources to build infrastructure, defend the country, deliver the mail and care for those that are truly in need.
It is the conservative that knows there are absolute rights and wrongs and understand that punishments for wrongs and rewards for rights get the orderly conduct required for a society to survive.
It is the same conservative outlook as possessed by the founders of this country that believes that freedom and liberty give mankind integrity, honor, and pride in ones self and the nation.
A true conservative believes in God, family, and country, and will die fighting to defend them when necessary.
Anything less will end in slavery.

Ice Cream Conservative
While on a recent road trip, I listened to a talk show host that commented he had been asked why he is a conservative. And he said that he had to pause and give thought before giving an answer. I had an immediate answer to the question, "I like cherry vanilla ice cream."
When I was a boy, about 10 years old, my family was very poor. My parents depended upon government handouts to make ends meet. It was the days before food stamps, so we had to go to a distribution center and get canned meats, vegetables and sometimes fruits. None of the food was worth the trip to pick it up in my opinion, but I will admit it kept us from starvation. Hold on, I’m going to tell you why I am a conservative and what it had to do with ice cream. We never had ice cream.
I learned that a friend and I could team up and make money. We walked the nearby railroad tracks and picked up babbitt, a substance much like lead that serves as an antifriction substance for wheel bearings, and gathered grain that falls out of box cars. We sold the babbitt to a local junk dealer and sold the grain to some old ladies that fed it to their chickens. And, we saved our money until we could go to a nearby grocery and have ourselves some ice cream
Each of us would get a half gallon of the best cherry vanilla ice cream every made. Then we would sit on a bench in front of the store and eat it all. That’s it! I learned that if I worked, I could get things I wanted.
Later on I discovered that when I got a real check, the deductions taken were a large part of what I earned. I didn’t like that. To this day, I want those deductions to be less and for those that spend "my money" to do so wisely.
Instead of selling out to government, I sold out to work and rewards.
P.S. I have a half gallon of cherry vanilla in my freezer right now.

Women's Rights
Much has been said about the women protesters on the day after the inauguration. But, no one seems to know what it is what they want. Yes there were those that were crude with hats that demean women and at least one that boasted that she was a nasty woman. If I were a woman, I would be outraged by this behavior.
However there was one sign that proudly proclaimed that the woman wanted to have the same rights as guns. First men could own as many as they want. And, that would mean that women could not go into airports or Federal buildings. You would have to wait 72 hours before you could take one home and in most states you could not openly carry one. Training to handle one and an exam would be required to have one. That would be something to watch. The list could go on and on. But, the scary part is that a man would be responsible for any death or damage they cause.
Sounds like Sharia law to me. I didn’t know that women liked to be treated so badly. Heck, I grew up thinking women wanted to be treated with respect and dignity.

Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a mind boggling thing. And, most people are unaware of how prevalent it is. Think about personal assistants such as Siri, Cortana and Alexa. AI is used in smart cars which means that at least someone or something is driving the car and not texting.
Video games, drones, smart home devices and security systems all use artificial intelligence. Even fraud protection is managed by AI. Then there is industrial and medical applications. The point is that AI can be beneficial in numerous applications.
So, I have an idea. How about giving liberals some artificial intelligence.
They don’t have any intelligence now.

Peaceful Protest
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the peaceful protest to proclaim love are nothing more that violent acts of hate? When you have businesses vandalized, cars burned, police injured and laws ignored, it ain’t peaceful.
Such as expected were the events in D.C. on Friday. And, it all is preventable. It just takes a law and order society that wants it stopped and is willing to do whatever it takes. The "bikers for Trump" are a good example.

New Prez
Donald J. Trump is now officially the new sworn in and sworn at President. From his speech he appears sincere in returning the power of government to the people. All we the people can do is watch, watch, watch and watch. And hopefully see some dramatic changes for the better. Of course, Trump has little chance of doing worse than the previous guy.
Surely he will realize that when you drain a swamp, you will have to deal with some alligators and who knows what other creatures. The trick is to stay focused on the mission.

Who Knows
As the inauguration draws closer, with all the protest and foolishness, it occurs to me that the reactions may be for naught. Who knows what Trump will actually do as the 45th President? The Greatest Show On Earth
The "Greatest Show on Earth" will end in May, after a 146 year run. Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus has announced that the show will end amid growing cost and decreasing revenues. Last year they quit using the elephants in the show because of animal rights protest and lawsuits. The Circus did win the lawsuits, but chose to move the huge beasts to a sanctuary in Florida.
And so ends the dreams of Phineas Barnum and James Bailey. When the elephants went, so did the dreams. Hey, you can’t have a circus without elephants and clowns.
I must admit that I’ve attended a circus or two, but honestly don’t remember why. Maybe it was for the cotton candy or to be able to see animals that I would not see otherwise. But, I do remember the elephants. They are beautiful and majestic. Let’s hope the ones from the show get to adjust to their new life before animal rights hypocrites attack full force again.
If you have a dog that you keep inside your house, isn’t that animal abuse? Of course it is. Dogs were intended to roam free. Teaching them tricks is more abuse. How about dogs used for police and drug enforcement work? It’s a matter of perception on the part of the chronic complainers that want to be on the evening news.
Do we not see ads on TV about how animals are abused everyday? There is no one more protective of animals, and I am allergic to all of them. And, I can’t stand to see dogs locked up all day waiting for someone to come and let them free. But, this doesn’t seem to bother the do-gooders.

Inauguration Protest
If you haven’t heard yet, plans are being made to protest the Trump inauguration as one might expect. A group of avowed anarchists say they intend to paralyze Washington D.C. next Friday. The group that I will not name, currently is holding training sessions for protestors. And, there is more than one group, but according to an article in the Boston Hearld, there is no coordination of efforts.
Richard Nixon had protestors, as did George W. Bush, so protesting isn’t exactly new. But, my observation is that now there is more hate and planned violence.
And, they say it is all done for love and peace. There are lots of places they could go if they want anarchy.

Law And Order
I have long been a fan of Dr. Walter Williams, an economics professor at George Mason University. The man is consumed with common sense. Therefore today when I read the following, I decided to share his insight on law and order.
Walter Williams: "Politicians who call for law and order are often viewed negatively, but poor people are the most dependent on law and order. In the face of high crime or social disorder, wealthier people can afford to purchase alarm systems, buy guard dogs, hire guards and, if things get too bad, move to a gated community. These options are not available to poor people. The only protection they have is an orderly society. Ultimately, the solution to high crime rests with black people. Given the current political environment, it doesn't pay a black or white politician to take those steps necessary to crack down on lawlessness in black communities."
Maybe it’s time to change the political environment.

Secede
For those unfortunate few that know me, they know that I always have a plan - which is always ridiculous. I got this way from working with engineers for so many years.
My latest plan to really fix government is for all 50 states to secede and leave Washington D.C. all alone. Naturally we should surround them and not allow anyone out - use force if necessary.
We could allow all the celebrities that want to, one way access in.
Sounds like a plan to me.

Newscast
Okay, I’m back to being annoyed by TV "news." That’s nothing new, but it’s getting worse, if that’s possible. Sure, you don’t see many movie commercials anymore, they are on the news. I don’t think that the latest reviews are news. Silly me.
Back in the old days, when newscast had some credibility, they were 30 minutes long and actually contained some useful information. Even local news shows now last an hour or more and contain nothing useful except the weather forecast and it rarely is close to what really happens. At least the weather prognosticators tell you that it is their opinion. So called anchors just give opinions and rarely tell any news worth hearing.
Some day all the national network newscasts will announce that some country has launched a bunch of nuclear missiles at the U.S. and they should strike within the next 60 seconds. Details right after we review the latest Hollywood has to offer this week. Or, even better, which celebrity doesn’t wear underwear.
It’s all opinion, and my opinion is just as important as anybody’s. "Journalist" should have to get a license after rigorous training and testing.
And, if they lie or give an opinion, they should be shot.

Medical Marvels
The changes in medicine in my lifetime have been phenomenal, especially in surgery. When I was a boy, cataract surgery required one to lie in bed for seven days and not move your head. Today, it takes less than a half hour and you go home. Heart procedures that were considered ‘miracles’ in the past are common place today.
My youngest granddaughter had to undergo surgery this week. She went to the hospital about 7:00 a.m. and was on her way back home shortly after noon. And, they took out her gallbladder and appendix. She was given instructions on what to do, what to eat and even how to shower. Old dumb me asked if she had a way to prevent getting bandages wet. I was told there are no bandages, no stitches or staples. The doctor used some kind of super glue to close the incision. I asked if they used Gorilla super glue. It’s supposed to be the best kind.
Maybe that’s why they never tell me anything.

Three Things
With all the new year resolutions pretty well broken by now, most people are back to doing whatever it was they were doing. Since I don’t make resolutions, I am still whatever I was and will be. But, there are some changes that we all can make, if you want to be a better and happier person.
Because we all are the average of the people we associate with, we can move up our average by associating with people that are smarter and more successful than we are. Not that I’m smart, but I figured this out a long time ago. Smarter people keep you on your toes and you can learn by just keeping your mouth shut.
Learn to accept that you will never be liked by everyone. Think about it. Do you like everyone you know? You will be liked by those that hold the same values you have and aren’t those the kind of people you want to like you?
Finally, the best way to improve with little or no effort is to give up on social media and TV. We live in a society that is plagued by these diseases that consumer time and shape our minds in ways that we do not want to go. Stop, look and listen to what is really happening with the time spent, and focus on that which will enrich your life.
Don’t worry, you won’t become a grumpy old man, unless you want to.

Don't Understand
There are so many things in this world I don’t understand. No, I’m not stupid. I understand inverse-square law and total static pressure, but people are beyond comprehension. Maybe that’s the reason psychiatrist are crazy. They have to be, to believe they understand how the human brain works. The only thing I understand from that field is the Rogerian theory which simply states that man is capable of solving his own problems.
In my little fly spec world, I encounter some folks that just don’t make sense to me. Some of them are relatives so I can’t mention any names or point to what they do. But I can say about most people that they would be a lot better off if they stopped and gave a little thought before acting.
We are all guilty of not realizing what a good deal we have. Our lives may not be the best, but unless you’ve lived through some real bad times, you may not know how well off you are. The part that puzzles me is those that get opportunities on a golden platter and do not take advantage of them. A simple example is those that let drugs take over their lives. No one made them start. It was a choice. But why did they make that choice?
Without rambling on, it confounds me that there seems to be so many dysfunctional people today. It’s like they are hiding or running from something with no hope of overcoming their current condition. Perhaps the answer is in the Bible. It usually is.
An old man was asked what his favorite Bible verse was and he replied, "It came to pass." All things come to pass.
You just have to hold on until they do.

Gun License
The Texas Legislature is now in session. They meet every two years for 140 days. Some have said, they should meet every 140 years for two days. I agree with that.
One bill that is up for discussion and possible vote deals with gun licenses. Briefly, there is discussion about doing away with license fees and training, but keeping the background check requirement. We now have the ability, with a license, to carry firearms on our person out in the open. I’ve seen only one person doing that. I was not in favor of that idea, nor am I in favor of removing training from licensing requirements.
I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, but to walk around town toting a gun without training is not a good idea. A gun is a tool and tools require training and practice. To let someone just start using a band saw without any instruction is inviting amputation of body parts.
It is a great responsibility to carry a gun. It takes practice and forethought to become proficient in controlling the tool to do only what you intend to do. With the exception of police and military, people should use guns for sport shooting and self defense when there is no other choice.
I suggest that removing the fees, they are expensive, is not a bad idea. But, if someone is a person that should be allowed to carry a firearm, that person should know a lot more than those that don’t choose to carry. Seems to me that an increase in training would make sense.

Lower Prices
Just like in previous years, this year’s focus is on what irritates me at the moment. Today, it’s a local grocery chain and their ‘lower prices.’ They ran TV and print ads proclaiming how they have lowered prices through out the stores. Heck, they even closed one night to ‘mark down’ the prices. The problem is, they forgot about people like me. The prices went up, not down.
Since I do the shopping, I am constantly aware of the prices of the items I have to buy. Yes, I do shop for sale items and use coupons. It gives me something to do that amuses me. I am not amused by the new lower prices. With some possible exceptions, they have raised prices from 10% to 50%. Why don’t I shop somewhere else? There is nowhere else that I don’t have to drive 30 to 40 minutes to get to.
I know my financial controller is going to be upset, but we are going to have to stop eating.
Except broccoli. They didn’t raise the price on that.

$100 Million
Obama, the "potty president," vowed in 2008, when he was a senator, that he would give up vacations if elected to completely focus on the job. The government watchdog group Judicial Watch reportedly has been keeping track of vacation expenses. And, Obama’s frequent and lavish vacations now total nearly $100 million. Mooch’elle must have had extra fries on all the trips.
Is it any wonder he ran up the national debt by almost $10 trillion.
The country would have been ahead if a deal had been made to just provide the vacations and let us do without a president for eight years.
Psst, Mooch’elle. The extra fries are beginning to show.

New Year
Okay, we now have another new year. The question is what are you going to do with it? Will it be pretty much the same as last year? Or, will it be better or worse than last year?
If you look outside, you will discover everything looks the same. Turn on the TV or log into Facebook and discover everything is about the same old things. What, then, will make this new year better or worse?
We all live in a three foot circle. That means that in our little world, the things that concern us, take place in a very small area. So, maybe you need to focus on your space. Perhaps you can really change the things you don’t like and get more of the things you do.
I’m at that age now where I truly do not care what others think and in many cases what they do. My focus is on what causes me the least amount of obstacles with the best outcome. Sounds simple. Just try it for awhile.
