For the past four years I have complained about living in East Texas. There have been numerous issues with services and products, but I haven’t mentioned medical services, until now. This area has to be the medical services capital of the world. There is a clinic, office or hospital on just about every corner. And, the ones I’ve had to use seem to hold up the tradition of bad service and high prices.
Not too long ago I had to go to a dermatologist for an excessive oily skin problem. The young lady doctor looked at the problem and said there was nothing she could do, but would give me some sample medicines to see if they would help. When I got home, I researched the medicines and found that one of them did treat, without much result, the problem I had. The second medicine was for anal itch. Quit laughing and go on to the next paragraph.
I have a standing prescription for a migraine medicine. Depending upon the frequency of the headaches, I usually use a prescription about once every 3 to 6 months. This past week, because I was low on the pills, I phoned in the refill to our local pharmacy. A recording told me that the refill would be ready later the next day. When I went to the drug store to get my prescription, I was told that I had already picked it up. I immediately suspected that was not true because I would have had to go there and I had not been there. After much discussion and reviewing a video of the person that actually got my medicine, we all agreed that it was not me. It was a very nice looking woman, who didn’t look like she had a headache.
After some time, it was concluded by the pharmacy that my prescription had been given to someone else and they would investigate further. There are several rules, regulations and laws against doing such things. However, they could not fill the order for me. Seems they were now out of stock on the medicine.
My financial controller and ace number one daughter wonder why I won’t go to doctors or take medicines.
I figure I’m ahead just staying home and dying if necessary.
