With all the new year resolutions pretty well broken by now, most people are back to doing whatever it was they were doing. Since I don’t make resolutions, I am still whatever I was and will be. But, there are some changes that we all can make, if you want to be a better and happier person.
Because we all are the average of the people we associate with, we can move up our average by associating with people that are smarter and more successful than we are. Not that I’m smart, but I figured this out a long time ago. Smarter people keep you on your toes and you can learn by just keeping your mouth shut.
Learn to accept that you will never be liked by everyone. Think about it. Do you like everyone you know? You will be liked by those that hold the same values you have and aren’t those the kind of people you want to like you?
Finally, the best way to improve with little or no effort is to give up on social media and TV. We live in a society that is plagued by these diseases that consumer time and shape our minds in ways that we do not want to go. Stop, look and listen to what is really happening with the time spent, and focus on that which will enrich your life.
Don’t worry, you won’t become a grumpy old man, unless you want to.
I want to.
