Pet Peeves

As mentioned several times over the years, I have a lot of pet peeves. Most people probably do. You know, the little things that just irritate you. Like lousy customer service, bad products and inflated prices. These are just a few reasons I am a grumpy old man.

The term "you guys" is stupid as far as I am concerned. I know the difference between males and females and to say, "you guys" must mean that the person speaking does not. Yes, I know the term is an attempt to be all inclusive, but it is an insult to women and men. Why not just say, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, men and women, or even citizens? If everyone is a guy, then let’s not hear any sexual misconduct complaints if a woman gets a pat on the butt if she is on a sports field.

Give back implies that you took something. When children play and one takes a toy from another, he or she is told to give it back. If adults take something, then they should face criminal prosecution. Yet we are barraged with "so and so wanted to give back to the community or everyone should give back to the community." What happened to "so and so gave to the community," after he or she worked hard and earned the resources to do so? I never give back, but I do give.

And, last but not least today is "your day," such as in a weather forecast, "the weather for your Saturday is going to be hot and dry." If it’s my Saturday, it will be 70 with clear skies and a southerly breeze of 5 mph.

You guys need to give back on your Saturday. And, enjoy the lousy service, bad product quality and high prices.
