As a child we are taught to respect our parents and do what they tell us. In the teenage years, we begin to test that authority and reach out for independence. By the time we are in our twenties, we perceive that we are free and resent any parental "interference" in our lives.
Yet, as a society, we bow to nannies that rule out of desire for power, not out of love as with our parents, in the name of government without question.
Why is that?
