Old houses make sounds. Usually the sounds are creaks and cracks and may be a moan. Not our house. Before we go on, you must know that hate is too mild a word for how I feel about this house. I’ve worn out several thesaurus looking for a word to describe my feeling and there all are too sweet.
Back to the house sounds. We’ve have a loud sound that varies. I began to think the house swas haunted. One time it was a whine, according to my financial controller who heard it. Then it was a loud sound as if someone was gagging and throwing up. Next there was the one that sounded like a cow mooing. I thought the house must know how I feel and is trying to get back at me.
I investigated everything in plumbing and electrical that could cause noises, but because they came randomly I could not locate the cause. Then while we were watching TV, with the iPad on an end table, the sound came back. It was the iPad and a game that our special needs granddaughter plays. She always has the volume up. She lays the iPad down in her room or just anywhere when she leaves, so we couldn’t identify exactly where the sounds came from. And, obviously, she doesn’t sign out of the game or turn the machine off.
I still think the house is haunted and am still trying to find just the right word for it.
