Never Too Late

According to a Fox News report, the Selective Service System mistakenly sent notices to more than 14,000 Pennsylvania men born between 1893 and 1897, ordering them to register for the nation’s military draft and warning them that failure to do so is punishable by a fine and imprisonment.

The men are likely all dead, since the youngest would be 117 this year. But, the clerk that works with the state database failed to indicate the century of the birth dates.

There were some descendants that got letters and were more than a little upset. That’s how the Selective Service System found out about the glitch.

The descendants should have just called in and pretended to be the person receiving the notices, and asked if they could join up.
