The Daily Signal is reporting that there is now a proposed rule by the IRS that guides non-profits to voluntary collect the Social Security numbers of donors that make a donation of $250 or more. You may think, “what’s the big deal?” Do you want a charity to have your Social Security number in their files?
One might suspect that most people will not want to divulge their number and donations would drop considerably. And, one might also suspect that the security of a Social Security number would be none or less.
Remember the rule is proposed and it is optional.
We all know how that turns out with the IRS.
