The powers that want to be in our HOA decided we need an automatic gate at the entrance of the property, so they put one in. It is keyed by the RFID chip in a toll tag. That’s where the problems started. Not everyone has a toll tag and some don’t want one. Then there’s the ones that have one that work on the new system.
In typical HOA fashion, no one has any idea on what to do. But, they are certain that it will work - someday. Meanwhile, there those of us, me included, that have grown tired of the new plan because it does not work for everyone. I need to mention that if you don’t have a toll tag that is recognized by the reader, you have to drive in through the lane used by vendors and visitors. In the morning this lane is backed up all the way to Seattle.
Because I am such a nice guy, or I really know how to complain, the man in charge of the project came to my house yesterday to talk. After some discussion, I am confident that he knows nothing about electronic systems. That would be truly qualified on an HOA. He asked me if I would move the toll tag on my windshield to a different location so the reader would have a better field to recognize it.
Believe it or not, I took the time to peel the tag off and move it. I glued it on the tailgate of my pickup and now I back in.
It works.
