Missouri House Bill 813, introduced by Republican state Rep Rick Brattin, would prohibit a recipient of the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) from using the benefits for cookies, chips, energy drinks, soft drinks, seafood or steak. What??? No filet or lobster?
What’s next? Surely they won’t think about prosecuting those that sell their benefits for pennies on the dollar to buy alcohol, tattoos, lottery tickets and other stuff.
It’s madness I tell you. Sheer madness.
What’s a poor person to do?
