Christians have suffered for their beliefs for centuries. Even today, around the world they are murdered, just for being Christian. On a talk show his week, there was discussion about what one might do if presented with a situation where you had to renounce the Christian belief or die.
Today in this country, Christians are being sued, threatened death, or worse for refusing to abandon their faith and belief. Even our government sides with those against Christian beliefs and traditions.
I am reminded of Polycarp, possibly the last person to have known an apostle, having been a disciple of St. John. Polycarp was an old man when faced with death at the hands of the Roman proconsul if he did not renounce Christ. He simply said, "86 years have I served him, and he has done me no wrong. How can I blaspheme my King and Savior."
So, the question remains the same since Jesus came. What would you do?
Happy Easter
