Why is buying almost anything so complicated? Case in point is buying tires. It’s like buying a mattress. They are impossible to compare. And, tires are about as bad. You have to compare treadwear, traction, temperature, load range, speed rating and something called UTOG. There must be a million tire manufacturers and they have a million different tires to choose from.
All I want is a good tire, round, that will last a lot longer than what came on the car. Seems simple enough, but when you have to compare all the ratings, prices, rebates and other stuff, it is not an easy task. Yes, there are the major brands, but some of the lesser known brands have better marks. And, the major brands are confusing.
I did a comparison of three major tires that were customer rated. The highest rated tire on all of the above, was the least rated on wether to buy the tire again. ???
Maybe I should just shop for a new mattress instead.
At least I could take a nap.
