My youngest granddaughter performed her final high school drama performance in Shrek, The Musical, this weekend. She will be graduated this spring and will soon be off to seek her fortune. I hope she makes a big fortune so she can support me.
She played a witch and a mouse in the play. As usual it was an academy award performance. At least that’s how I graded it. I knew she would.
A few hours before the play my financial controller told her to “break a leg.” In the stage play business, that means to take a bow. I didn’t always know that and thought it sounded like a bad thing until it was explained to me.
When told it was a good thing to break a leg was a good thing. I just started saying, “put an eye out.” I figured if breaking a leg was good, putting out an eye would be super good.
Just so you’ll know. She broke a leg.
I knew she would.
