Yes, I know that I think about strange things, and right now I am thinking about who was the first to try some of the foods we take for granted. I’m guessing that before mankind learned how to make fire, fruits, berries and grains were the only real choices for food. But, once fire was combined with meat, good things were on the menu. I’d like to think that barbeque ribs were one of the first dishes early man enjoyed.
But, looking back, how in the world or, why in the world would someone try some of the things we have today. Milk for example. Did some caveman get up one day, look at a cow, and say to himself, “I think I’ll squeeze those things and drink what comes out?” How about the first guy to eat a raw oyster? He must have hit the fermented fruit a little heavy first. Eggs are another think. Did somebody eat a raw one first? I bet he was happy after he got a fire and could scramble them, with a side order of bacon.
Yes, I know that the whole evolution of food was trial and error, with some of the errors ending in death. But, the one that still puzzles me is broccoli. No, it won’t kill you, but it tastes like it will.
Must have been one hungry caveman.
