Then And Now

With the 4th of July approaching, it is right that we all pause and understand exactly what the Declaration means. Obviously, it was a declaration of independence from England, but it also was a declaration of war, for the signers knew that the Crown would be swift to crush the rebellion. But they were willing to pay any price for freedom.

A small band of ragtag revolutionaries pledged their honor, safety, money and even their lives to be free from a tyrannical government that controlled their daily lives beyond what they could bear. The revolutionaries were committed to form a government never seen anywhere else in the world. They were dedicated to their Christian beliefs that God would grant them freedom.

And, so it was that a few colonist changed the world for the better. A new way of thinking, based up on those Christian beliefs, came into being, as a result of unbelievable bravery and determination. And, these United States were the results of their sacrifice.

What would the founders have to say about the USA today? Would they recognize the unity and culture of one country blessed by God, or would they see a nation divided, headed for destruction?

Be honest when you think about that.
