Oh Happy Days

As I write this missive my financial controller has just completed a three hour drive to pick up her parents to come and stay with us for a few days. She will stay overnight and head back in the morning, so I still have time to run away from home. Don’t get me wrong, my in-laws are good people and I’ve been hanging around them almost all my life. But, she’s 86 and he’s 90 and there is a "generation gap."

First, he wants me to take him fishing. It has been a few years since I took him fishing, because the last time, I spent most of the time we were out, watching to be sure he didn’t fall into the water. He’s a big man and I am not. If he falls in, about all I can do is mark the spot so the EMS will have a place to start looking.

Next, I have noticed that there is a plan for our diet to change. We now have a small truck load of shredded wheat and bananas. Not to mention the loaves of wheat bread. It looks like pasta is on the way too. I hate pasta! I’m guessing there will be no chili, ribs or good old American steak while they are here.

And, here’s the kicker. It seems that neither of them can get in and out of a tub very well. Our guest bath has a tub/shower. So, the decision has been made they will use my shower.

I just hope we’re not all in there at the same time.
