You may heard that the Prez is visibly upset that the latest attempt to circumvent the 2nd Amendment did not pass. He has vowed to keep on fighting until he gets his way. Accusing the NRA and allies of lying he indicates he will continue the fight.
Here come my questions. Did prohibition stop the manufacture or drinking of alcohol. Do speed traps stop people from speeding? Both points demonstrate that even if you prohibit something, people will get it. And, if you nanny them to make them mind, they won’t.
We have laws that strictly prohibit murder. Guess what? Murders happen everyday. There are so many gun laws, that are usually observed by gun owners, that it takes a mountain of paper just to print them. If you’ve never been to a gun show, let me be the first to enlighten you. There are background checks before you are allowed to purchase a gun.
Reality is that no amount of laws will prevent some people from killing other people. Just look at Boston. And, there is no way to prevent events like this from happening. Law enforcement is not a force to prevent crime, only investigate it. If they are going to prevent crimes, each man, woman and child would have to be assigned a police officer on a 24/7/365 basis. And, that wouldn’t work either.
I am tired of being made to look like a criminal because I own a gun. If law abiding citizens are all going to become criminal because of the few that are, we are going to need a lot of jails. With all the working people in jail, who’s going to pay taxes? The politicians haven’t thought about that.
They rarely think. Apparently it hurts when they do.
