Extra Grumpy

It’s been 107 F in the shade lately. That’s where temperature is measured, in the shade. Every years it gets hot in Texas and every year we complain about it. I have said that to relate the story for today.

My in-laws have two metal buildings. One is a barn and the other is a shed. The difference between a barn and a shed is that a bard has a door. The shed used to be a barn until the door fell off.

Several months ago, when it was much cooler, they sold the property and the buildings. They were given months to get their stuff out. Every time the subject came up, the response always was, "It is too hot. We’ll wait until we get a cool day."

Guess what? The cool day was yesterday when it was hot enough to cook a brisket without a fire. We arrived early in the day, but the actual moving didn’t start until about three o’clock. The prime time for hot in Texas.

I could go on for hours about how much fun everyone had, but I’ll just let your imagination fill in the blanks.

I did find some old gas cans with gasoline. I had a lighter. I did want to pour the gas on the buildings and contents and light it up. I didn’t.

That probably will be one of those things I'll always regret.
